When using the saying, “Jack of all trades,” one has to consider the latter portion, “master of none.” As my fellow artists have pointed out, this figure of speech probably best portrays me. While I am competent in many artistic professions, I am rarely outstanding in any particular one. Perhaps a glance at my portfolio will explain. I have varying works ranging from digital sculptures, to games, illustration, literature, mobile app development, and finally concluding with photography. But in order for me to accomplish my graphic novel, I must embrace the very phrase I used to loathe hearing when my friends would describe me. Some may believe I have spread myself too thinly, but I find solace in my multifarious abilities.

After beginning to write down the basic outline for the first book of Feel Good Candy, I have a slight feeling that some people are going to be offended by this. They may call me a pervert, a misogynistic bastard, a depraved individual, and various other things. But do I care? No. Feel Good Candy is my guilty pleasure and I will be damned if anyone is going to stop me from creating it. Yes, there is underage sexual intercourse, heavy drug usage, foul language, violence, et cetera. But within all of the anarchy is a tale about that first taste of true love. At the end of the day, Feel Good Candy is a love story. If people do not see that, then maybe I messed up somewhere. Or maybe they just need to loosen their moral standing. I know there is a bit of necessary pandering I need to do to raise support, but I am not going to do it to such an extent that it changes the meaning of my art. What would be the purpose of writing and illustrating my own graphic novel if I change large portions of the story just to please a broader audience? Hopefully, I will never be that desperate. Remember: always make good art.

Everything begins on the first of May. I will be posting three updates for Feel Good Candy every week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Some of them will be vlogs, others will be audio podcasts, and finally, the last few will be blog posts on my website and Tumblr. I want to share more in-depth information with everyone to give people something to follow as I begin my two-year journey. There is much more to come. Stay tuned!

While reading a biography about Lewis Carroll, something the author said amused me: “For him, [...] female children embodied the essence of romance: he admired their natural beauty; he valued their spontaneous utterances; he treasured their untrammeled innocence; and he devoted his time, energy, and imagination to amusing and edifying them.” I believe the romanticized girl-child is a topic worth exploring. I have created a board on Pinterest to show the ephemeral beauty of this subject.

‘Allo. My name is Minter. My heart speaks louder than my brain and I am a fierce friend and lover. I am a little over a quarter of a century old and I believe reality has wonderful graphics, but horrible gameplay. I enjoy the feeling of warm pavement underneath my bare feet, the sound of cicadas singing on a warm midsummer’s evening, doodling with my new Wacom tablet, and drinking Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Honey with Coca-Cola while smoking a cigarette on a rainy day.
